Beyonce Mentor Text
I would categorize this text as an interview, as this is what the text actually is. I find interviews very interesting and while I cannot think of examples off the top of my head, I have read many in my lifetime. This text gives off a vibe of personality. Beyonce allows us to really get to know the person that she is, as well as her overall character. Beyonce explains her life, as well as her troubles. It enables the audience to feel closer to her. I think the intended audience for this text is her fans. There are many misconceptions about Beyonce that she discusses in her interview. She explains these misconceptions and tells the real truths behind them. I think if you are a fan of Beyonce, it provides vital information about who she really is. The text itself is informational. We get to know and understand a music icon, and all that she is. I feel like the occasion that prompted this text was the curiosity of the person interviewing, as well as Beyonce’s need to tell her truth. The interviewer asked popular questions, and she was able to tell her own story. This time, the correct story. This text has two speakers. The main speaker being Beyonce herself, but the person giving the interview is also an important speaker as they prompted the interview. This text, in summary, is about Beyonce. She explains her troubles, her struggles that she overcame for fame, as well as her family life and accomplishments. I don’t see any complications reading this text, but an important message I got from it is the importance of being herself. She remained true to who she was, and she built an empire from her own incredible traits.
